More Problems For Dreamliner?
New Orleans, LA
- As the FAA ordered the urgent inspection of 787s for possible fuel line defects, United Airline’s 787 made an emergency landing in New Orleans yesterday due to what was a potential electrical problem.
Flight 1146, to Newark, NJ diverted to New Orleans due to an issue that happened after the plane departed from Houston. The flight carried 174 passengers and 10 crewmembers. United is working with Boeing to determine what caused the problem.
Unconnectedly, the FAA has ordered that 787s be inspected if fuel line connectors are properly installed. The airworthiness directive (AD) was issued after fuel leaks had to be fixed on two planes.
In its urgent AD, the FAA says the fuel line flaws could lead to planes running out of fuel, engines shutting down or losing power, or leaks on hot engine parts that could cause fires.
